Masjid al-Ghamamah (مسجد الغمامة) (Mad_02)

Located at the southwest corner of Masjid al-Nabawi, this masjid marks the spot where the Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) performed Salat al-Istisqa (prayer for rain). Miraculously, as the Prophet (ï·º) pointed towards the sky, clouds gathered and rain immediately fell, hence it was named Ghamama ("Cloud"). The Prophet (ï·º) also led Eid prayers here. The masjid was later built by the order of Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz and subsequently renovated by Sultan Abdul Majeed and King Fahd.
